New Updated Demo App
The Viziotix Barcode Scanner Demo App has been updated on the app stores as “BarcodeScan Demo V1.1”. Powered by the latest SDK, the Demo App now offers new barcode symbologies and features. This app, available for Android and iPhones, is designed to demonstrate the barcode scanning performance of the Viziotix Barcode Scanner SDK. It is offers the quickest way to start testing our SDK on your barcodes.
Two important new features have been added:
- Zoom. In settings, you can now adjust the zoom between 1x, 1.5x (default) and 3x. This feature allows the decoding of either very small barcodes, or barcodes that are far from the camera. Increasing the zoom increases the resolution on a decreased field of view. This is particularly useful in any environment where barcodes need to be scanned at long range.
- Inventory mode. In addition to the One-shot (photo) and the Continuous (video) scanning modes, you can now choose “Inventory” mode. In this mode, barcodes will be scanned once in a scanning session. When all the barcodes are scanned, the number and list of decodes is displayed in the results window. This demonstrates how the SDK could be used in an inventory scanning app to avoid the double counting of already scanned barcodes. Example applications includes validating shipping or receiving batches in cases or on pallets.
The release also adds new symbologies and further improves the decoding performance on some existing barcodes (including adding Nano-Scan to i2of5). Check out the Android and iOS release notes below for full info.
Barcode Scanner Demo App Video
As explained above, the purpose of the mobile demo app is to give you an easy way to start testing and see the power of this barcode decoder library in your application. Further, we offer a free Barcode Test Card to download and print to use with the app. If you think that our barcode scanner SDK will accelerate your solution then we recommend downloading the free trial SDK and integrating. The free trial also provides a desktop/ workstation demo app that can be used to test your datasets on more powerful Windows or Linux systems.
If you have not yet tried the mobile app, please see the video above for an overview. For more information on the mobile and Windows / Linux demo apps see this blog article.
Release Notes Version 1.1 -Android
New Functionality:
- New barcode symbologies supported: Codabar and Code 93.
- Decoding improvements made to PDF 417, Data Matrix, and various 1D barcode symbologies.
- Nano-Scan decoding implemented for Interleaved 2 of 5. Nano-Scan is a sub-pixel algorithm that increases scan distance and allows the decoding of barcode images with blur.
- New Inventory scan mode: this mode generates a list of all decoded barcodes during a reading session and avoids double-counting.
- Significant improvement in scanning speed in One-shot scan mode (single decoding mode).
- Added Zoom setting to mimic the field of view of wide angle (1x), standard angle (1.5x -default), and HD/long range (3x) camera settings.
- Added Motion Tolerance settings (in Advanced setting mode) to improve motion tolerance. This improves the decoding of barcodes when the device or barcodes are moving relative to one another (default Low).
- Improved camera management compatibility with more Android devices.
